The first Shotokan karate association in Thailand, the Thai-Japan Shotokan Association, was established in 1990 with Mr. Chutinant Bhirombhakdi as President.
Following the passing of Mr. Chutinant and in need of new governance, the current entity, the Thai Karate Shotokan Association (TKSA), was registered in 2026.

A message from the President
“
For me, karate is far more than a martial art or a competitive sport. It is a lifelong journey of self-development: a discipline that strengthens the body, cultivates the mind, and shapes one’s character.
At the heart of karate are discipline, respect, humility, perseverance, and the continuous pursuit of self-improvement. These values extend far beyond the dojo. They become principles that guide us in our daily lives and in the way we conduct ourselves toward others.
As President, my commitment is to preserve the traditions, principles, and standards of authentic karate while continuing to develop our organization in a professional and internationally recognized direction.
We are committed to supporting karate practitioners at every level, from young students and beginners to competitors, instructors, and future leaders. By providing a strong foundation and a clear path for development, we hope to enable every member to reach their fullest potential.
Our purpose is not simply to develop skilled karate practitioners or successful competitors. More importantly, we seek to develop individuals with discipline, integrity, responsibility, and respect for others, people who can carry the values of karate into their lives and contribute positively to society.
I firmly believe that the true strength of an association does not come from any single individual. It comes from the trust, unity, and shared commitment of all its members.
Together, we will preserve the valuable traditions of karate, continue to raise our standards, and pass the spirit and principles of karate on to future generations with integrity, strength, and purpose.
